My 3-Metric Framework for Comparing Packs: Stop Guessing Where to Spend Your Hard-Earned Tokens
The Daily Question: "Should I Open Aquatic or Blizzard?"
Every single day, players ask me in comments: "Alex, I have 3,000 tokens. Should I open Aquatic or Blizzard? Which pack is better?"
My answer is always the same: It depends entirely on your 3 metrics. You can never compare packs simply by looking at their sticker price (20 vs 25 tokens). A 25-token pack with great rare resale might actually cost less per pull than a 20-token pack filled with low-resale commons.
Whenever I evaluate packs for my own account or program them into the simulator, I use this exact 3-metric framework:
The 3 Metrics That Actually Matter
Metric 1: Net Pull Cost (Sticker Price Minus Resale Floor)
When you open 100 packs, you will resell 95 of them as duplicates. What matters is not what you paid upfront, but what you lost after selling the duplicates back. In the Medieval Pack, you get back an average of 3.4 tokens per pull, making your net cost 16.6 tokens. In the Safari Pack, you only get back 3.0 tokens on a 25-token cost, making your net cost 22.0 tokens (32% more expensive!).
Metric 2: High-Tier Bottleneck Odds
What is the hardest blook in the pack to pull? If the bottleneck is a 1.0% Legendary (like King in Medieval), completing the pack is realistic. If the bottleneck is a 0.02% Chroma (like Rainbow Panda in Safari), you are looking at a 10,000-token journey where you will likely strike out.
Metric 3: The Tilt Factor (Consecutive Common Streaks)
How many common blooks can you pull in a row before you get frustrated and make dumb opening decisions? Packs with higher Uncommon and Rare density keep your dopamine steady, while packs packed with 85% Commons lead to tilt and rage-spending.
Head-to-Head Comparison Across Popular Packs
| Pack Name | Sticker Cost | Net Cost / Pull | Bottleneck Target | Tilt Severity | Best Used For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Medieval | 20 | 16.6 tokens | King (1.0%) | Low | New accounts & fast unlocks |
| Aquatic | 20 | 17.2 tokens | Megalodon (0.2%) | Medium | Mid-game players with 5k bankrolls |
| Space | 20 | 17.8 tokens | Astronauts (0.05%) | High | End-game Chroma hunters only |
| Safari | 25 | 22.0 tokens | Rainbow Panda (0.02%) | Extreme | Players with 50k+ tokens to burn |
The Decision Rule
If your token bankroll is under 5,000, stick to Low Tilt, Low Net Cost packs (Medieval, Breakfast, Outback). Only move to High Tilt packs when you have the financial cushion to survive a 200-pack cold streak without raging.
